3rd Arts and Care Day
On October 15, 2026, FERREPSY and Les Abattoirs will host the 3rd Arts and Care Day at the auditorium of Les Abattoirs, Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse. The event is open to everyone—visitors, professionals, and the general public.

A study day organized by FERREPSY (Regional Federation for Research in Psychiatry and Mental Health) and Les Abattoirs, in partnership with Toulouse University Hospital and the CSTR – Toulouse Support Center.
We are always situated somewhere, in both a symbolic and physical space. Yet this does not prevent us from being overwhelmed by our experiences, from not truly being present, from not finding our place, or from not daring to simply be. We may even feel like strangers in our own bodies.
This lack of grounding worsens when a psychological symptom appears. It comes to characterize the mental disorder and the identity upheavals it causes. Mental health care and recovery are then the tools that help patients feel fully present again—either by resolving the symptoms or by developing their ability to cope with them.
This conception of mental health care resonates with one of the possibilities of art, which can lead both those who view it and those who practice it to be fully present to themselves and to the world.
Care settings, like art spaces, thus face the same question: how can we ensure that their visitors are not merely passersby—passive participants in the care process or spectators of a beautiful place where they feel like outsiders?
In this third edition of the Arts and Care Day, we propose the hypothesis that spaces of coexistence may be one of the pathways leading to a genuine sense of belonging. We will seek to understand what happens in spaces where diverse audiences, the arts, and/or care intersect. We will explore the possibility of envisioning places where co-creation and appropriation by the public transform what already exists.
