Miró, Just Between Us
To conclude the 3rd Arts & Care Day, Les Abattoirs, the Louise Bourgeois Day Hospital, the CSTR (Toulouse Rehabilitation Support Center), and FERREPSY are hosting a “Thursday at Les Abattoirs” event to continue the discussions on the theme “Living Together to Make a Home.”
We often experience an exhibition freely, choosing whether to let ourselves be captivated or to move through it quickly, so that we can feel fully ourselves—or at home.
But what if we add to this museum experience the elements of encounter and otherness?
Miró, Just Between Us is not a guided tour.
It’s an invitation to listen to the personal stories of about ten volunteer guides for the evening. Each one has chosen a work from the exhibition Joan Miró: Protest, has come to know it well, and is eager to introduce it to you. These are all accounts of their encounters with the exhibition, with the works it features, and with the artist. They are stories—almost like confidences—about what Miró means to them.
Miró, Just Between Us is also the result of the participants’ behind-the-scenes encounters with the exhibition, its installation, and the education teams at Les Abattoirs. This is an artistic and cultural project, not a healthcare project. They are citizens, brought together by the museum space and the people who inhabit it. They are not confined to the identity of people receiving care.
