Les Abattoirs invite you, during a "Jeudi des Abattoirs" (Thursday at the Abattoirs), to come and immerse yourself in the world of KPOP.
In partnership with the dancers of Inmovement, Les Abattoirs invite you to participate in a KPOP masterclass in the Picasso room of the museum. This is an opportunity to discover and learn a few steps of this very popular dance in South Korea.
KPOP is a worldwide cultural phenomenon, a musical movement originating in South Korea, short for "korean pop", which emerged in the 1990s with the worldwide wave of boy bands. The movement then faded away before coming back in force thanks to social networks.
This proposal echoes the project of the artist Zoé FEBVRE-UTRILLA aka DOLORES, one of the winners of the Mezzanine Sud 2022 prize. In her immersive installation 상심 (Sang-Sim) Remix, the artist materializes the matrix of the k-pop universe and this world of entertainment, illusions and truth of feelings.
The Mezzanine Sud prize is awarded each year by the Abattoirs to artists under 35 years of age in the field of contemporary creation. This distinction marks the Abattoirs' strong commitment to the development of the local scene. Each new edition highlights the diversity of artistic languages and the multiple energies of the young generation of artists, and in particular of the local scene.
Program of the KPOP NIGHT :
Presentation followed by a demo / performance by the dancers of Inmovement, followed by a choreographic apprenticeship proposed to the public of this evening!

Inmovement is an association and urban dance troupe based in Toulouse, bringing together a dozen dancers, photographers and video artists. Participating in many festivals such as: JAPAN EXPO PARIS & MARSEILLE, Toulouse Game Show, also competitions such as the Renc'art de la danse.
