In Praise of the Landscape I

On display at the archaeological museum located on the oppidum of Ensérune, a Celtic settlement overlooking the Canal du Midi, "In Praise of the Landscape I" explores the complex relationships between humans and their environment.

In dialogue with the site’s wooded areas, the works on display explore the fragile balances of life, the transformations of matter, and the processes of evolution and disappearance that shape our landscapes. Through organic forms, natural or transformed materials, and installations evoking growth, decay, or the world’s memory, the artists explore the boundaries between the natural and the artificial. “In Praise of the Landscape I” and “II” are two adjacent exhibitions offering two complementary perspectives on the landscapes of the Canal du Midi: sensory journeys where contemporary art, heritage, and the environment converge to reveal the richness and fragility of life.
