In 2021, “painting-dresses” marked the reopening of the Centre Pompidou, nearly forty years after the first works in this series were unveiled in the early 1980s, featuring Robert Combas, Hervé di Rosa, Ben, Annette Messager, and others. These unique works, painted directly onto flat-cut canvas dresses inspired by the shapes of the kimono and the djellaba, were showcased notably at the International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris.

In 2026, in Toulouse, the public will witness the live creation of new dresses on live models. They will be created by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and four artists from the Toulouse graffiti scene, accompanied by a DJ set by Marie Deback. For many years, the artist has been drawing with chalk on the walls of the cities he passes through. There, he fills the walls with images of angels and dedications to his loved ones, his friends, and those who have inspired him. It is this connection to urban art and public space that has inspired him to join the internationally renowned street art scene of the “Pink City.”

Now more than ever, imagination reigns supreme as we open this 22nd edition of Museum Night.
