Fashion Night

For this new edition of European Museum Night, Les Abattoirs celebrates the creative power of fashion and its connections to the art world! On the program: a fashion performance featuring live dress creations by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and his guest artists, body transformations during a drag show, and multiple workshops to unleash your imagination and create your own designs. Let’s log off Instagram and find inspiration through interaction with the artists !

On this night, fashion is art and art is fashion. In the spirit of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac—whose sensitivity to the world around him makes him one of the most inventive designers of his time—and of the artists and fashion designers who draw inspiration from the richness and diversity of nature, this evening is an explosion of shapes, colors, and materials, a call to unleash the power of imagination that lies within each of us and to make clothing a means of self-expression.

Two highlights will mark this Fashion Night :

Starting at 6:30 p.m. on the museum’s forecourt, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, accompanied by four artists from Toulouse’s graffiti scene—Rezo, Mademoiselle Kat, Onesiker and Julia Forma—will revive the performance “Le tableau humain” and create dresses live on live models. A street artist himself, drawing on city walls with chalk, this performance explores Castelbajac’s relationship with urban art and public space, and celebrates the street art scene of the “Pink City.”
Featuring a DJ set by Marie Deback.

Echoing the exhibition Listening to Life. Biomimicry, at the intersection of art and science, the four drag artists Calypso, MamzellWash, Féelicie, and Daemon Schiele take over the Picasso Room to transform themselves before the audience’s eyes. Drawing inspiration from nature and its incredible forms and colors, the artists reveal the secrets of their metamorphosis into hybrid creatures and will parade through the museum’s galleries throughout the evening.
In partnership with Quai des Savoirs

Throughout the evening, numerous activities are also offered for all audiences: dress-as-art creation workshops, creative workshops, guided tours of the exhibitions, tours in French Sign Language (LSF), screenings, a DJ set, and a bar and restaurant. For younger visitors, there are guided tours with hands-on activities for ages 3–6 and a creative workshop for teens.
On the music front, a series of DJ sets will take place on the plaza and at L'Hémicycle restaurant starting at 6:30 p.m., creating a festive atmosphere until midnight.
