Ode to the Mountains

Les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse and the Centre d'Initiatives Artistiques du Mirail (CIAM) are pleased to present "Ode to the Mountains" at La Fabrique, Université Jean Jaurès.

At once soothing and dangerous, terrestrial and celestial, mountains have never ceased to fascinate human beings, and artists in particular. Ode aux Montagnes takes a look at these territories through the prism of contemporary artistic creation.

Conceived as a hiking trail, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey of ascent, from the origins of the mountain, from its memory where myths, legends and religious beliefs mingle, to its summit: the observatory of the Earth and the cosmos.

Comprising works from the collections of Les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse, as well as creations by five artists from the Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions, Ode aux Montagnes is the work of thirteen students in the Master Métiers de l'art, Régie, Documentation et Médiation program, who propose a plastic and poetic stroll from the caves to the gates of heaven.

The exhibition features works by 23 artists: Valerio Adami, Babi Badalov, Juan Carlos Batista, Amélie Bertrand, Angela Bulloch, Christian de Cambiaire, Etienne Chambaud, Acaymo S. Cuesta, Pauline Curnier Jardin, Daniel Dezeuze, Ferran Garcia Sevilla, Ludger Gerdes, Jaroslaw Godfrey, Elias Hanselmann, Eric Hurtado, Paul Iratzoquy, John Isaacs, Philippe Lamy, Ninon Lemonnier, Anthea Lubat, Fleur Noguera, Julien Pastor, Lorène Roustin
