The exhibition brings together works from the Abattoirs’ collections in a dialogue with the abbey’s history and architecture. Echoing the spaces dedicated to stone heritage and the Grotte de Buffens, these works explore the connections between landscape, memory, and the transformation of territories. Some works evoke water, ecosystems, and the relationships that societies maintain with their environment. Others examine history, transmission, and the traces left by the events, practices, or narratives that shape these places. The exhibition route reveals connections between the site’s different temporalities: the geological time of the cave, the historical time inscribed in the abbey’s stones, and the present time of contemporary creation. It invites visitors to discover the landscape as a living space, shaped by the interactions between nature, memory, and human activity—much like the Canal du Midi.
