RELIGHT — A European programme

Regional Beacons for the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism through Culture

A programme co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

Entitled “Relight” and coordinated by the Banco Santander Foundation, the project aims to identify innovative solutions for the revitalisation of tourism in rural areas across the southwest of France, northern Spain, and Portugal. This objective will be pursued through the design and implementation of pilot artistic and cultural initiatives developed in close cooperation with local stakeholders over the 2025–2027 period. The project also involves several partner sites in Cantabria (Spain), Coimbra (Portugal), and Le Bruit du Frigo in Bordeaux (Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France).

In Occitanie, the Frac is working with Roueïre – Centre for Arts and Heritage (Sud-Hérault Community of Municipalities) and Le Vallon du Villaret, an art and recreation park located in Lozère. For Les Abattoirs, Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse, two distinct pilot actions are being developed: one in partnership with Voies Navigables de France, the Convivencia Festival, and the Entente du Canal du Midi, marking the 30th anniversary of the Canal du Midi’s inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List; another focusing on the caves of the Lot and Aveyron departments, carried out in collaboration with the Maison des Arts Georges et Claude Pompidou in Cajarc.
