Conversation with Martha Kirszenbaum, curator of the French Pavilion of the 58th Venice Biennale with Laure Prouvost, followed by a performance by musician Lafawndah accompanied by her percussionist Sebastien Forrester.

Following her captivating self-titled Tan EPs in 2014, Lafawndah has established a reputation for boundary-smashing and pigeonhole-defying creativity. Influences on her debut album Ancestor Boy, released in March 2019, stem from her peripatetic life as a global citizen. After a breakout year with the release of her debut, Lafawndah returns with a supercharged companion piece: Ancestor Boy 2. Neither a sequel nor a remix album, Ancestor Boy 2 offers up the lysergic DNA of the original - theatrical composition, tightly wound pop songcraft, and a global bodymusic acumen. Her music is a bracing statement of intent, drawing from a personalised map of influence while resisting both categorisation and easy analysis. Underpinning it all are dramatic and powerful beats, drawing the club, composition, and popular song into thrillingly unresolved, ultramodern erotics.
