3pm performance

We get dressed every morning, but do we realise that the clothes we wear are not just to protect us from the weather or the gaze of others? Don't they tell us more than that, weaving our physical connection to the world through fabric and colour?

More than just clothes, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's creations showcase these fabric coats as our second skin, which interact like a singer and his lyrics, an artist and his painting, a poet and his drawings...

This is what the artists of the Compagnie DDS invite you to discover in their sign language performance alongside the works in the exhibition ‘Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Imagination in Power’.

This performance is accompanied by a tour in French Sign Language by Juliette Dalle at 1.30 pm, meeting at the reception desk.

___________

The Compagnie Danse des Signes is at the crossroads between dance, theatre and sign language.

It was founded in 2009 by Lucie Lataste, who wondered: why not create a dance piece that is performed and experienced solely in French Sign Language?

Sign dance was born from this obvious concept, unique to sign language, which consists of speaking and moving at the same time, expressing oneself while breathing, and being poetic while dancing. Words give rise to a dance that draws on states of being, on speech, on text, and moves towards a meaningful choreography. This process takes place between bodies, texts, signs, movements and sensations. A dance theatre combined with the power of sign language.

The company aims to be a breeding ground for artists, creativity and opportunities, bringing together deaf sign language artists and the contemporary creative scene.
