‘8 Mile’ Film Club
Les Abattoirs invites you to attend the screening of ‘8 Mile’.
Festival of the Imaginary
‘Oli's Imaginary Museum’ is first and foremost an exhibition designed to be lively and open to all, punctuated by events, concerts, workshops, performances, conferences and open stages. This is the spirit behind the screening of 8 Mile, featuring rapper Eminem, chosen by Oli from the treasures of the Toulouse Cinémathèque.
Screening :
Detroit. 1995. The 8 Mile Road separates the white suburbs from the black neighbourhoods... Between family, professional and sentimental setbacks, the journey of Jimmy Smith Jr., dreams full in his head but not yet the words to express them. Jimmy Smith is Eminem, hooded angel face and swaying gait, obviously perfect as an inspired rapper but just as credible as a lost kid. The Lose Yourself bomb is dropped on a black painting of a white trash suburb of Detroit. Here, rap is synonymous with survival! In the end, it's an almost documentary-like biopic, much closer to Detroit than Hollywood.
