Concert by the Toulouse Conservatoire
Concert by the Contemporary Music Department
Festival of the Imaginary
‘Le Musée imaginaire d'Oli’ is above all an exhibition designed to be alive, open to all, punctuated by events, concerts, workshops, performances, conferences and open stages. This is the spirit behind the invitation extended to students in the Contemporary Music department at Toulouse's Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional, a symbolic place for Oli and his brother Florian, where their love of music has been affirmed, one studying the trumpet and the other the drums.
The concert on offer this Thursday will be given by students from the Contemporary Music Department at Toulouse's Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional. When the department was set up in 2008, collective practice was placed at the heart of the teaching approach. These group practices are workshops in which contemporary music is practised in groups, usually organised around singers.
The Conservatoire also offers a wide range of other courses: writing/arrangement, piano, big-band, history of contemporary music, harmony, instrument lessons, sound techniques, etc...
The 6 groups from the Contemporary Music department will each play two pieces. As creation is always at the heart of the Conservatoire's teaching methods, each group will play a composition of its own and a rearranged version of the repertoire.
This concert reflects the Conservatoire's determination to continue the momentum that Florian and Olivio Ordonnez, now known as ‘BigFlo & Oli’, began as students at the C.R.R. in Toulouse back in 2008.
