The Little Museum of Color

The Tiers-Lieu les Olières in Montesquieu-Volvestre presents its first exhibition of works from the collection of Les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse: "The Little Museum of Color".

Rich in symbols and ambivalence, colors influence our language and shape our imagination. Color was initially at the heart of representational painting, before gradually breaking free from it. It then spread to other media or became the sole subject of a work, imposing itself in monochrome.

Conceived as a veritable miniature museum, this exhibition recounts some of the great moments in art history by presenting the use of color in contemporary works. Between pop, neon, and fluorescent, the artists gathered here use color as a means of transcending conventions, illustrating reality in a different way, or reflecting on social issues or personal stories.
