Tabita Rezaire invites Samantha Lavital

Founded by artist Tabita Rezaire in the Amazon rainforest of French Guiana, Amakaba is a centre for the wisdoms of body, earth and sky. Through agriculture and ancestral knowledge, this place of collective healing weaves together art, science and spirituality to cultivate and share the offerings of the forest. Tabita Rezaire brings her experience as a yoga teacher, cocoa farmer and doula.
Closely linked to the exhibition Fusion élémen.terre, the artist's first solo exhibition in France, Tabita Rezaire has invited Samantha Lavital, one of Amakaba's doulas, to officiate a fertility ritual.
This journey takes you into a round of resonance, where sounds open up voices/voices. Spontaneity, listening, vibrations and intuition will be our guides during this sung offering, open to all, to cultivate the art of bringing our visions into the world through the power of sound.
To anchor our ululations in our inner soil, an intimate steam bath session, an ancestral treatment that honours the wisdom of plants, will then be offered to energise and soothe our matrices.
The word "doula", from ancient Greek, has been used for several years in the field of perinatal care, to name the person whose vocation it is to help a woman and her entourage during the perinatal period, thanks to her experience and training. She embodies the well-known figure who once stood by the woman giving birth to her baby, alongside the midwife.
A doula has no medical function, she is not a therapist. She supports the work of the midwives.
*For the steam bath session, we ask you to bring your own sarong or towel and a ceramic or steel bowl. This second part of the ritual will take place in the auditorium, where dressing rooms will be available for you to change.
